At the "Protecting Democracy" event, I was able to visually capture the inspiring presentations and discussions with my graphic recording. The event offered exciting insights into the challenges and opportunities for democratic processes in Austria and Europe.

After a warm welcome from Christian Meidlinger and Peter Marchsteiner, who focused on the focus year 2024, the substantive program began:

• Mag.a Zandonella presented current findings from the Democracy Monitor.
• Andreas Peham highlighted the dangers of right-wing extremist propaganda in a post-democracy.
• In his lecture "Manipulation Reloaded", Richard Tiefenbacher showed how democratic opinion-forming is deliberately influenced.

A particular highlight was the FishBowl discussion, in which participants and speakers reflected together on the state of democracy and future developments in Austria and the EU. The event impressively demonstrated the importance of continuous dialog and joint efforts to protect our democracy.

With my graphic recording, I visualized the diverse perspectives and impulses in order to make them tangible and usable in the long term. The image was printed on a postcard on site and given to the participants as a souvenir.
